Summer season in full swing

Handmade outdoor pillow

It is hot. It has been hot for a long time. I know, I know it’s summer but really. My work area is on the second floor of a cape. If you have a cape you know what I am talking about. The heat just gets captured there under the eaves. I do have an air conditioner in one room which I run on dire occasions because the electric bill can be killer.
The positive side to summer is the need for people to accessorize their outdoor areas. I have been selling my handmade outdoor pillows pretty well this summer. They are so soft and cushy they make you want to take more naps outside. When I saw how ugly and hard the ones in the stores were, I decided I needed to offer more variety and comfort to shoppers so that’s what I do.
Come browse my shop and see what the fuss is about. I guarantee you will love my pillows (and other home decor items).

Craft Fair Season

It’s that time of year in New England, USA
leaves are changing colors
days are getting frightfully short
pumpkins are popping up everywhere
and it’s craft fair season!
It seems every weekend in many small towns there is a church fair, civic art show, flea market etc.
I will be jumping in with both feet this year. My inventory is up, as are my bills, so off to market I go.
This weekend I will be in Berlin, CT at a Harvest Fair. Weather predicted is heavy rain so it will probably turn out to be a lovely day. The fair info, if interested is:

Harvest Fair
American Legion Post 68
154 Porter’s Pass
Berlin, CT

Hope to see some of you there.

Walter Cronkite Dances

Walter Cronkite Dances

I love this snippet of a magazine article I have. It shows Walter and his son or grandson singing and dancing. It is hand signed by Mr. Cronkite and it shows a side we didn’t often get to see. I wish I knew the magazine and date of issue but in the meantime, looking at it gives me a smile.

How to get noticed online

waterproof lining bag

Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, flickr, kaboodle, stumbleupon, etc, etc, etc, and so on. How do I get my etsy shops noticed amongst all the advertising going on in these “social networking sites”. I don’t see much socializing. I see lots of come see my new product, I am having a sale, come check out my low prices.

Is this what I also have to do to be seen? Does the squeaky wheel get the business? I don’t know. It just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do. The problem is when I do keyword searches for my items in google and yahoo, they are never on the first few pages.

What to do?

Might as well start here

Come visit my shops, mention wordpress and get 10% off all purchases. How’s that?
